What developers use it for
- Bug capture without context switching. "Checkout fails when the cart has a 0-price item – repro on staging, user 42." Done in 15 seconds.
- End-of-day work log. What you did, what's blocked, where to start tomorrow. Tomorrow-you will thank you.
- Ideas and tech debt. "We should cache the pricing call" – captured before it evaporates.
- Standup prep. Read yesterday's entry instead of trying to remember.
- Rubber duck debugging. Explaining the problem out loud often reveals the answer – and now you have notes.
How the Jira export works (exactly)
We'd rather be precise than oversell it:
- You choose a date range and download a CSV file you can import into Jira with its CSV importer.
- Each recording becomes one issue: the summary is "Task:" followed by the first 50 characters of the transcript, and the description is the full transcript.
- It does not split one recording into several tasks or guess priorities. So the trick is simple: one task per recording.
A format that imports cleanly
"Bug: checkout total ignores discount codes on mobile Safari. Steps: add item, apply SUMMER10, go to checkout. Expected 10 percent off, got full price. Probably the client-side recalculation."
Starting each recording with "Bug", "Idea" or a short title makes the summary column easy to scan after import, because the first words become the issue summary.
Why voice is faster here
In a Stanford lab study, speech input on a phone was about three times faster than typing on the phone keyboard. More importantly for developers: speaking doesn't require switching windows, so you don't lose the mental stack you just built. More in Is speaking faster than typing?
Honest limits
- Code identifiers, stack traces and unusual names may need a quick fix in the transcript.
- It's a capture tool, not a Jira integration – you import the CSV yourself.
- Talking out loud in an open-plan office isn't for everyone; a headset helps.
FAQ
Which languages does transcription support?
Many languages, detected automatically. Technical English mixed into another language usually works fine.
Is the free plan enough?
The free plan has 3 recordings a week and 1 Jira export a month – enough to try the workflow. Pro (€5/month) removes the limits.
